Week 39

"We are rare, not perfect...we need to soothe ourselves, not blame ourselves." ~ Mark Nepo

Walks, bike rides, art in the backyard, leaves changing color, clear sky in the west, Hurricane watch on the east coast, and these adorable grandchildren of mine. All is well and we're all okay. Thank you.

I love watching the Liquidambars change.

Out for a morning adventure with this cutie.

Noticing.

I gave him a new pad of paper when I picked him up from school.
He walked into the house, gathered his supplies, and went straight to work on his masterpiece.
My heart!

Straight out of my camera (phone).
Burn baby burn.

As we watched the weather channel all evening, I  made a little graphic from a screenshot.
Then we watched again the next night as Ian headed towards Melissa in SC.
Thankfully, all of our family made it through okay.

Paisley highly recommends this book.
It is eye-opening.

She liked my happy face Sun.

Got all three of them together.

More Liquidambar (aka Sweetgum) leaves.

Those are some big eyes staring down at me - like I'm prey.
This is one of the White-tailed Kites that has been hanging out at Hub's office.

Week 25

I have far too many thoughts and feelings about the SCOTUS decision on Friday.  Cowards.
For now, I will practice self-care and relishing moments of joy being with my loved ones
- gathering the strength to fight for our rights.

I coaxed them outside to enjoy the sun before the heat of the day.
They weren't impressed.

Discovering pockets on her dress.

She stole his glasses right off his face.

More of our unusual weather. Monsoonal clouds make great sunsets.
We could have used some rain too.

Trying out the sun catchers in the front window.

This one is my favorite, so far.

A Friday morning hanging out with these loves.

This one was fun. Digital watercolor painting in Procreate.

He is a bright light in our lives.

Soothing, watercolor coloring in Procreate.

Yes, I'm Pro-Choice.
I am sad and furious at SCOTUS and afraid for my
daughters, granddaughters, and all childbearing humans.

Week 13

"March is the month of expectation."

~ Emily Dickinson

Well, I certainly didn't expect March to end like it did.

And then, we're almost at the end of week 15 and here I am, almost two weeks behind. I'm still shooting, of course, yet don't have much time to edit or share.

Just keep swimming.

I like to look behind me when I'm shooting sunsets, or sunrises.

Snacks and art time with these babes.

Miss Cleo is ready for her annual check-up. She's super healthy for 18.

Rainbow sprinkles from the crystal hanging in my window.
This always brings me joy.

This girl's expressions and those eyebrows are priceless.

Messy face and he's still so handsome.

Week 2 - 2022

"Photography is a gift. The memories we make with our work are PRICELESS."

~ Jenny Rosenbring

I was reminded (again) of how energized I get when I intentionally shoot, edit, create, and share. I mean, it always surprises me, and I don't get how I could ever forget such a wonderful feeling. Why I hesitate to schedule the time to do this every day is a wonder. So, I've decided that this project of shooting daily, and blogging weekly, is a form of self-care and have added it to my to-do list and calendar.

Maple Walnut Shrimp for Monday dinner.

Ths sunsets lately have been on fire.

The hills of Briones with Mt Diablo in the distance.
Oh, and those clouds!

This beauty is blooming super early this year.

These two are just too adorable.

Again with these clouds!

Dark-eyed Junco coming in for the privet berries.

355/365

Today...

The last day of Autumn. Eleven days until the end of this hellish year. One month until the Inauguration.
Yes, I'm counting the days.

I'm grateful Melissa and her family made it safely to CynCyn's. Wish I was there with them all.
Thankful for a quiet Sunday and this beautiful sunset to send us into the Winter Solstice.

Today…(Saturday 8-15-20)

Thoughts on my morning walk: no matter how crazy and messed up so many things are right now, we still have Mother Nature. Blue sky, trees, air, flowers, birds, animals, and more.

Power and air conditioning. Currently 104ยบ and rising.

Making breakfast for me and MIke.

A great phone conversation with my boy. We talked about his work, their house, politics, or rather politicians, and found out we are both on the same episode of Yellowstone.

Logan’s birthday party at Jesse and Bri’s with just the families.

Jesse getting into the kiddie pool to cool off and play with the kids.

Getting to see and talk to other people in person.

Enjoying an evening out of my house.

That sky!

Air conditioning.
