Weekend link list

Here again, I have gathered a list of links to articles and posts I found interesting this past week plus a couple of things I've been up to. In addition, I've been working on getting the word out about my website Diane Tibbetts Photography where you can view my portfolio and purchase prints.

...

Cat lovers know cats do this without being provoked. Still not totally sure how I feel about these. I'm thinking the photographer only gets one opportunity to capture these images with each cat, hopefully.

"...when you improve in one area of your life, you grow in all areas - you are the system."  Just one of the things that will happen when you decide to live your dreams.

Your story is more than your talent. Thank you, Jeremy Cowart!

I try to make a new recipe at least once a week. This past week it was Pot Sticker Stir-Fry from 'Ready or Not' by Nom Nom Paleo. It's good and I'm thinking I need to make it again this week.

I'm currently reading 'I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings' by Maya Angelou.

I participated in the Black and White Photo Challenge this past week. It was fun and now I need a new challenge. I'll take suggestions. View all seven days on my Facebook page.

Happy Sunday and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Articles and shiny objects

I got all excited about doing a link list post. You know, share some articles, and stuff that I've found on the internet.  Been thinking about doing something like this for awhile and thought I had twenty or so links to share saved in my reading list. Well, I have a gagillion links saved but I'm only feeling these today.

Here you go; a glimpse into a few things I find interesting and a few ‘shiny objects’ that catch my eye...

YES! Says this journal junkie.

Thinking I want to try a black and white one of these. Just wondering how it will work out for me.

OMG!  Loved these back in the day and I've been wanting another pair forever.

Beautiful Fall photos to get us all inspired and out shooting.

Say "Money"

Chase Jarvis with Brene Brown "...divisive times are good breeding grounds for good art..."

And, of course, I can't forget about my website. I am SO excited to have it up and running now.

Hope you have a great day!

It's alive!

 Finally!

I’m excited to announce my official photography website.

Look what I created! (Sorry, movie quotes pop into my head far too often.)

Making this website has been (and still is) quite an interesting learning curve for me. By interesting, I mean challenging and fun. Yes, fun. That is what this is all about. Right? Right. I still have a LOT to learn here so please bear with me as I make changes, grow my business, and improve my photography.

Just keep learning, just keep learning.

Thrilled, nervous, scared, and antsy, are just some of the feelings I’m having right now and I am just now announcing this on Facebook and Instagram too. I’m going to need more feeling words for all these emotions.

I could keep on waiting until I get it all perfect but, as we all know, nothing is perfect. Except for my Grandchildren, they are perfect. So, yes, it’s time to get my beautifully imperfect images out there and keep moving forward.

Check it out, take a look around www.dianetibbetts.com and let me know what you think by commenting on the images or clicking on the contact link at the top right of any page. Got questions, or suggestions? You can send me an email.

Thank you in advance for visiting my site!

"Been away, haven't seen you in awhile..."

Sing it with me.

Sorry, the verse from this song, "We Just Disagree" popped into my head as I was thinking about a title for this post.

I'm still here, months later. I've been working on a Photography website and it's taking FOREVER. It's not like it's rocket science or brain surgery but there is a learning curve and, of course, the matter of making time to get shit done.

I'm having some issues with the platform I'm using. Issues as in, I don't like the way some things are set up. Login requirements for comments, shipping prices, not being able to edit file names after upload, etc. Yep, it's all newbie problems and I'm new to all of this.

Still, I'm plugging along and will go live as soon as I get through updating all my photo filenames in LR. Well, not ALL my photos, just the ones I'm putting on the site. Ugh!

I did get my 'About Me' page done, with a Bio even. If you know me, you know this a big effing deal.

Once my website is live, I'll be sharing all about it and linking here, Facebook, and Instagram.

Stay tuned!

In the meantime, I haven't had much time to edit photos lately but here is one of my favorite animals I photographed last month...

Testing links to my website - this won't work until I go live but if you have the password, go for it!

Double nickles

"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream."
~ C. S. Lewis

I hit level 55 this week.

I was just about to write how I don't feel 'that old.' Is 55 old? Probably to a twenty-something. I don't feel old, at all. I feel better than I have in a long time. It really is just a number.

Still, I have lived a few years. So the following is is a quick, random list of some things I've learned, some things I am grateful for, and some things I need to remind myself about often.

I am blessed. SO blessed.

Life goes by far too fast. Be here now. Seriously.

My husband is my Superman. “No cape.”

I love my children and grandchildren more than they will ever know.  I hope they do though.

Clean, healthy food is life.

Sugar is my kryptonite.

Sleep is the elixir of all.

Photography, writing, reading, music, and nature feed my soul.

Self-care is life-saving.

The best self-help is self-compassion.

Perfection is overrated.

All we need is love. Sing it with me.

I’m an introvert and it’s okay.

The laundry is never done.

My alone time is for everyone’s safety.

I am enough.

The Golden State Warriors are the NBA Champions, again. YEEAAASS!!

My grandchildren are my tiny Zen masters.

I love going to the movies. I need to go more.

There is no angry way to say bubbles.

I don’t do heat. Yes, born on the third of July, but spring and fall are my favorite.

The sky is always blue, somewhere.

I’m 5'11" and have a serious case of RBF syndrome. This intimidates some people.

I overthink about overthinking.

I have everything I need.

To be continued...

Cheers!

Proud parent moment

“She stands firmly on her own two feet and I just behind her; should she ever need me.”
~ j. iron word

We are beyond proud to announce that our daughter has just successfully defended her thesis and will receive her Master of Philosophy degree from the University of California Santa Cruz.

Her father and I are once again in awe of her achievements, but not at all surprised. In our hearts, we knew all along she would (and will!) achieve more than we could ever imagine. She has become a stunning example of hard work, determination, strength, and love.

Next on her agenda: Doctor of Philosophy.

What does she plan to do with these degrees? Whatever the hell she wants!

We love her past the sky.

The apricot thief

"Squirrel!"
~ Dug

Last week we wondered who or what left half an apricot on top of our fence. We didn’t see any apricots on the neighbor’s tree that hangs over our fence so we weren’t sure where it came from.

Then this morning I caught this critter munching on a fresh apricot. Apparently, our neighbor has several apricot trees. None with fruit hanging over our fence, darn it.

I guess all the birdseed and peanuts these guys steal from our yard just isn’t enough. Or, this particular squirrel has grown bored of climbing the shepherd hook, trapezing along the clothesline, and shimmying down the bird feeder to access more bird food.

He didn't even freeze or flinch when I came back out with my camera.

He left half of the apricot on the fence and apparently came back for it later. I thought he was just after the pit but no, it’s still up on the fence.

Dude, clean up your mess!

He’s messing with me; he knows Apricots are my favorite fruit.
